This week we made live concerts possible again with the launch of Drive-In Entertainment Australia – So many entertainers are out of work, but now they can get back on stage starting with 8 pop-up Drive-in venues along the East Coast (including Sydney & Melbourne ) from July featuring some of Australia’s favourite acts. The launch performance was a huge success, with support from local councils and the police, Drive in Entertainment is looking to be the premier COVID-Safe entertainment in the years to come.
In its simplest form, the concept is a drive in theatre – where up to 1 million patrons will be able to enjoy shows from the comfort and safety of their own car with audio being broadcasted by an FM radio signal to your car’s surround-sound speakers, which will sync with the sound stage. The intimacy we all look for in live performances is still present but with a modern day twist of being live-streamed to the cars via Zoom, allowing the audience to interact with artists and vis-versa in real time. And the rapture of applause can be made bigger with car horns going off and wind screen wipers swaying in unison.
